Ghana runs two national digital health systems that don't talk to each other. This paper designs a patient-controlled health record, linked to the Ghana Card, that follows the patient instead of the facility.
What went into it
- Problem analysis of DHIMS and LHIMS, the two non-interoperable national systems.
- System design for a patient-controlled identity layer linked to the Ghana Card.
- MVP architecture that avoids hospital-to-hospital integration agreements.
- Literature review on personal health records and health information exchange in low- and middle-income countries.
